Do you think I can leave out the mushrooms and still get a good representation of the dish? I cannot have the mushrooms, but everything else in this dish sounds absolutely amazing. I love that you added the paprika. It adds a nice smokiness to the recipe and another layer of flavor.

This recipe calls for mushrooms which I have never seen in scalloped potatoes before. I am still going to try it since I love potatoes and it will be good to come home to after working. Yummy.

These are not scalloped potatoes. To make real, old fashioned scalloped potatoes use the following. 1 - Peel and slice three very large or five or sis regular sized potatoes. Peal and slice two or three medium sized onions. Layer potatoes and onions in a casserole dish Sprinkle a little flour and saltine cracker crumbs between layers. Pour 2 0r 3 cups of milk over the whole dish.Sprinkle the top with cracker crumbs and dot with butter. Cover and bake until tender, about 45 minutes to 1 hour. Remove cover last 5 minutes of baking. Bake at 300 This recipe is more that 150 years old . dearcar
