I love the ideas of making a snack mix in my slow cooker. I think goldfish crackers are the best, but I will probably also add peanuts to my recipe. I'm looking for some snack and appetizer recipes to make for Thanksgiving week, for company and for busy days. This is a must make.

When I was a little girl my aunt used to make homemade chex mix for all the kids at our family holiday parties. Everybody always loved it, and the big huge wooden bowl she served it in would get empty quick! Sure, they make a packaged chex party mix product now, but it's just not the same. I have a 6 year old son and always seem to have chex cereal and goldfish crackers on hand, so I can't wait to make this for him!

Do you know that it has been a long time since I have seen a similar recipe to my mom's Chex cereal mix? I bet it has been more than 15 years. We always used peanuts, and I would have to do that too since my daughter is allergic to tree nuts, but there is something about the wheat chex and rice chex mixed together that I love. I love the use of Goldfish. It's something I wish we would have put in ours as a kid. I look forward to making this on New Years.
