The zen of slow cooking Family Favorite Mix Collection includes three of their most popular slow cooker spice blends: Smoky BBQ, Sweet & Spicy, and Marinara. These mixes come with suggested recipes to make easy slow cooker meals the whole family will love. Each pack comes with enough to make two full meals.
I first tried my hand at preparing the French toast casserole using the Sweet & Spicy blend. To call it easy to assemble would be an understatement. Not only was it easy to put together, it was also shockingly tasty. It would be perfect for serving for Christmas brunch!
I then used the Smoky BBQ blend to make pulled pork, an absolute favorite of mine. This was definitely the easiest of the three recipes to make because it required so few ingredients. It required minimal attention or work on my end which is so important when I look for new recipes since I work during the day. This was easy to get going before leaving for work, and easy to finish when I returned home.
Finally I made the Marinara sauce and served it up with some pasta. This is truly a family favorite meal that even the kids can get excited about. It was loaded with different fresh flavors. Just add a side of garlic bread for dipping in the extra sauce and you have the perfect meal.
I highly recommend these blends for busy parents who don't have time to cook, as well as foodies who love to cook. None of the mixes are spicy, so you don't need to worry about serving them to children or those who are sensitive to spiciness. They have loads more recipe ideas on their website that all sound like great breakfast, lunch, and dinner ideas. Keep these blends stocked up and you won't ever worry about dinner inspiration again.

I tried the french toast casserole mix, and it was pretty tasty! I appreciated that it wasn't too sweetyou can always add extra syrup or sweetener.

Overall, I was impressed with the marinara sauce! I'm a bit sensitive to spicy foods, so this was almost a little too much flavor for me, but I enjoyed this way more than if there weren't any spices added.

The pulled pork isn't too saucy, but it still has a great flavor. I would definitely make it again.

Pre-measured spice packets with ingredients to make a delicious, not-too-sweet French toast casserole? Sign me up! I love that there are only natural, wholesome ingredients in the Zen of Slow Cooking spice blends. They taste good, and I can feel good about feeding them to my family.

I enjoyed this French toast casserole mix! There was a great nutmeg flavor that I really liked. Like another reader said, it could've been a bit sweeter, but it did have a really nice flavor and the consistency was great.

I'm a sucker for French Toast, so when I tried the casserole I was hoping for a bit more. There needed to be more cinnamon or syrup on-hand. I thought I tasted a bit of pumpkin in there, but it could be my imagination. I do like that it was nice and soft, but I wish there would have been a slightly crunchy top coating.

I really enjoyed the French toast casserole mix. The flavor is really nice (plenty of spice), and the texture of the casserole is perfect.
