Does it have to be rice wine vinegar that you use in this recipe? I have other vinegars like balsamic and apple cider vinegar, but no rice wine. I would hate to go to the store for just one thing, so I think I will have to add it to my list and get the stuff the next time I go to the grocery store. It sounds very delicious.

Hi SissieSass, a good substitute for rice wine vinegar is apple cider vinegar plus a pinch of sugar. I hope that helps! - Natalie, Editor of AllFreeSlowCookerRecipes

The sauce in this recipe has just the right amount of sweetness to it, and is sure to be a big hit with the kids. If you use chicken breasts that are frozen, the sauce can come out a little thin, but using cornstarch to thicken it before shredding and mixing back in the chicken solves this problem. It works great in a warmed flour tortilla or lettuce wrap, if you are trying to cut down on carbs.
