Who doesn't love warm cornbread on a cool day? This recipe makes a very moist cornbread with a light crumb. Buttermilk makes it light and cakelike without forfeiting that great corn taste. My husband prefers cornbread with a bit of sugar in the batter, so be sure to include it as the recipe says. Also on the ingredients list is shredded cheese. It improves the texture, moistness and flavor, plus it's good protein. I'm not a fan of aluminum so I use baking parchment to line the crock pot instead of aluminum foil.
