Easy Slow Cooker Refried Beans
One of the perks of making your own refried beans is that you can adjust the flavor. I love cumin so I tend to get carried away with that. My family also likes the beans a bit spicy so I will toss in a tablespoon or so of my dried green chilies as well. To start with I soak my beans. It's something I have been taught to do, but I am told that if you don't soak them it won't make a big difference. These are a great side dish with any Mexican main dish, but it also goes well with barbecue.

I am in the planning stages of a taco bar birthday party for my teen. Trying to balance delicious with simple is not always an easy task. I don't want to use boxed and canned beans and rice, so my search for beans landed me here. With the addition of a little spice to flavor it up, this looks like it will be perfect. Maybe a little hot paprika..or even some jalapenos chopped up and cooked in it.
