Slow Cooker Guinness Beef Stew
If you love your Guinness, this is a natural recipe to add to your monthly weeknight menus. Slow Cooker Guinness Beef Stew contains that beloved beer that adds some new flavor and excitement to the old beef stew classic. Bittersweet chocolate and a little brown sugar help curb the bitterness of the Guinness. For the gravy, pour off the broth and let it sit awhile and thicken and then put it back in the slow cooker. It will come out better. Beef Stew is also great to serve at a family gathering. You can build a wonderful menu around it, including mashed potatoes, grilled vegetables and a great soup starter.

How did you come up with the idea to use the chocolate chips in this dish? I think that it is so unique to choose an ingredient like that and pair it with the Guinness. Can you use fresh thyme in this dish? If so, how much should I use to get the same as the dried thyme?
