Family Favorite Slow Cooker Chicken Barley Bean Soup
"I really like cooking in my crockpot all year round. During the winter months it’s nice to make hearty dishes that stick to your bones. In the summer, I like to use my crockpot because it doesn’t heat up my kitchen. This newest recipe is so full of fresh flavors and textures. You know it’s an easy peazy recipe. Basically it’s throwing everything in, putting the lid on and walking away for most of the day. My house smells so yummy while I’m writing the recipe down. Looking forward to digging in."

I am writing "barley" on the top of my phone grocery list right now! I have had beef with barley soup before and absolutely loved it, so I can't wait to make this chicken and bean version! Since the crock pot is doing all of the work, I might even whip up a homemade loaf of beer bread to dunk in it!

I can enjoy this soup for just 220 calories a serving? I am watching my weight, trying to slim down, and a dish like this packs a lot of nutrition and flavor in a pretty small amount of calories in my opinion. I'd probably eat a small bowl of salad greens with tomatoes on the side, and I'd throw some big croutons on top of the soup! Less calories than a crusty loaf, anyway -)
